Club Membership Requirements

It is a requirement that participants in ice racing competition and training sessions (both on ice and off ice) be members of Australian Ice Racing Inc. (AIR), which is gained via membership of an Australian club. Note that AIR brokered insurance extends to members only.

The only exceptions to this requirement are:

  1. Skate School students. It is not a requirement for skaters enrolled in rink-administered Skate School programs or other Skate School events to join a club.
  2. Try-out skaters. These are skaters who are considering membership and may be invited to join in with a properly supervised club session on up to three separate occasions before becoming full skating members.

Clubs that invite try-outs are required to complete the “Come and Try” membership type on the membership registration system and record their name, address and contact details and session attended in order to fulfil the requirements of AIR. “Come and Try” membership with AIR is gained via online registration with a registered club at Australian Ice Racing Membership page and is free of charge.
